Five Things Every Service Business Homepage Needs

Your homepage isn’t a brochure cover. It’s a doorway, and it has one job: get the right person to the next step.

Most homepages try to say everything and end up saying nothing. A homepage that converts is disciplined. Here are the five elements that earn their place.

1. A headline that says what you do

No riddles. A visitor should understand your offer and who it’s for in one short line.

2. A single, obvious next step

One primary action, repeated. “Get a quote” or “Book a call” — not five competing buttons.

3. Proof you can be trusted

Reviews, recognisable clients, real photos of real work. Borrowed credibility lowers the visitor’s guard.

4. The answer to “why you?”

A short, specific reason you’re the safe choice — not “quality service and great prices,” which everyone claims.

5. The basics, findable in a second

  • Where you’re based and the areas you cover
  • How to get in touch, visible without scrolling
  • What you actually offer, in plain terms

Strip away anything that doesn’t serve those five. Clarity is what converts — not clutter.

Is your homepage pulling its weight?
